WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Union Veterans Council, AFL-CIO (UVC), the labor movement’s organization for union veterans, decries the antisemitic, hateful and vulgar attacks against New York Congressional District 11 candidate and US Army veteran Max Rose. 

Following GOP Attempt to Block Bill, President Joe Biden Signing PACT Act into Law a Tremendous Victory for Veterans and Supporters

Today, the Union Veterans Council (UVC) applauds President Joe Biden for signing the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our PACT Act of 2022 into law. The historic bill expands health care coverage for military veterans who were exposed to toxins and burn pits during their service  — a major legislative priority of the UVC since its inception in 2009.

Republican lawmakers have yet again abandoned our troops by blocking the passage of the Sgt. 1st Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our PACT Act in the U.S. Senate. The historic bill expands healthcare coverage for military veterans who were exposed to toxins and burn pits during their service.

Last week we welcomed home an American patriot who was unjustly deported six years ago. Ivan Ocon, a brave Army veteran, won the right to return to the United States with the support of a powerful network of organizations, including the AFL-CIO; the Union Veterans Council, AFL-CIO (UVC); the Deported Veterans Support House; and Yale Law School’s Veterans Legal Services Clinic. He was sworn in as a U.S. citizen in a ceremony held in El Paso, Texas, today.
