The Union Veterans Council and Pride at Work call for the immediate reversal of the Trump-era ban on patriotic Americans serving in the military.

Washington DC- The Union Veterans Council, AFL-CIO, and Pride at Work, AFL-CIO call for the immediate reversal of the Trump-era ban on patriotic Americans serving in the military. Banning transgender Americans from volunteer military service is an insult to our troops, the LGBTQ community, and our nation’s founding principles.

When a union is in a fight, UVC knows how important it is to show up. That’s why we were proud to stand with unionized staffers of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette last Friday. For nearly a decade and a half, these workers have tirelessly covered the news--without enjoying a salary raise. That means that in real terms, these reporters are being paid less today than they were in 2006, an outrage given the current economic crisis.

Union Veterans Council Condemns Racism in Georgia Senate District 23 Race

Racist attacks against veteran and candidate Ceretta Smith are unacceptable

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Union Veterans Council, AFL-CIO (UVC), the labor movement’s organization for union veterans, decries the racist, violent and vulgar attack against Georgia Senate District 23 candidate and Army veteran Ceretta Smith.

UVC will target veteran voters in key swing states and support Bi-Partisan Congressional champions

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Union Veterans Council, AFL-CIO is proud to announce the launch of its political program to speak to union and veteran voters in key swing states and support Congressional champions of veterans issues in their election and reelection campaigns.

Yesterday, the Union Veterans Council sent the following letter to House and Senate leadership, copying all Senate and Member offices. The Trump administration has a rich history of saying one thing and doing another and America's veterans rely on the Postal Service for a variety of needs, including the ability to vote. Congress must act quickly to hold them accountable.

Once again, veterans have been left out of the conversation and stand to pay the consequences.  President Trump’s rash decision to defund the United States Postal System to fit a political agenda is disgraceful.  Veterans count on the USPS for a multitude of reasons and to sabotage it is an infringement of their rights in many ways.
