UNION VETERANS FIGHT FOR TEXAS CATERING WORKERS

(Dallas Tx). On Tuesday morning as Texas Union Veteran Sam Tijerina drove from Pasadena Tx to Dallas he had a lot on this mind. His thoughts wandered as he passed mile makers and towns, he thought about his young family at home and the life that having a union job has provided them.

“A union card changed my life and has allowed me to live with dignity,” Tijerina said that morning.

After coming home from the Army, Union Veteran Council Executive Director Will Attig struggled to find his place. “I came home without a job, a degree, or a future”, Attig said. That changed when he found a National Building Trades Registered Apprenticeship Program and became a Journeyman Pipefitter with the UA.

Give 1.3 Million Vets a Raise:Union Vets calls on Congress to Pass "Raise the Wage Act'

In a strongly worded letter, the Union Veterans Council, AFL-CIO has urged members of Congress to pass the Raise the Wage Act, which will directly improve the lives of more than 1.3 million American veterans currently earning less than 15 dollars an hour. 

This vote gives our lawmakers a clear choice to either support America’s veterans, or once again overlook the reality that these patriots face every day. We truly hope they stand with us, as we stood for our country in uniform.
